Kale Schaan, 24, Minot died battling his addiction to opioids on Saturday, July 20, 2019 in his home.
Kale Riley Schaan was born on February 21, 1995 in Minot to Steven and Gerolyn (Kluck) Schaan. He was raised in Minot and attended Minot Catholic Schools. He was employed at various Minot restaurants especially Buffalo Wings and Rings and was proud to have received the "Eagle Award" from the Minot Chamber of Commerce for his excellent customer service.
Despite battling his addiction, he will be remembered for his love of helping others and bringing joy to those suffering. He had an accepting heart and thought there was nothing more beautiful than one person helping another. He loved being goofy and bringing light to the room. He especially loved telling funny stories and sharing memes. People who knew him would describe him as appreciative and that he had a kind soul. Kale especially enjoyed snowboarding, Anime, Manga, reading, shooting hoops, photography and clothes. He loved to draw and had made amazing advancements in his artwork.
Kale's loving family includes his parents; Steven and Gerolyn Schaan, Minot; siblings: Manda Schaan (Adam Ruben) of Minneapolis, Joey Schaan (Ashley Dhuyvetter Schaan) and Hannah Schaan all of Minot; nephews: Micah, Jude and Symon; grandfather: Wendell Schaan of Ray, ND and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Kale was preceded in death by his grandparents: Cyril and Marie Kluck and Beverly Schaan.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, July 26, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church - Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service: Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the church.
Visitation: Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
In lieu of plants and flowers monetary gifts will be distributed to numerous recovery organizations.
