Colleen Rae "Pinky" Stein , 77, Minot, died Saturday, March 9, 2024 in a Minot Hospital.
Colleen was born on January 10, 1947 at St Joseph's Hospital in Minot, the daughter of Norman and Ann (Fitzgerald) Peterson. She was raised and educated in Minot and attended St Leo's Catholic School, graduating from Bishop Ryan High School. She went on to earn her teaching credentials at the University of ND in Grand Forks.
Colleen was affectionately known to many as Pinky, a nickname given to her by her parents due to her red hair. She was united in marriage to Ronald "Ron" Stein on November 26, 1966 at St Leo's Catholic Church. Pinky and Ron made their home in Minot where they were blessed with four children, Craig, Cassie, John and Jay.
At the start of her career, Pinky taught physical education at St Leo's Catholic Schools. Then in 1984, she embraced her entrepreneurial side, founding and operating Creative Property Management in Minot. She also shared an ownership interest in the Greenhouse Café, a long time staple of downtown Minot.
Pinky was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot and served on one of it's Alter Society groups. Pinky loved people. She could talk to anyone and was well known in the community for helping others any way she could. From helping with Girl Scouts to volunteering in her child's classroom, to providing advice and "hacks" when things needed fixing. When things needed fixing, you could always count on Pinky to be there if something wasn't right.
Ultimately, Pinky's greatest love and focus was her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, including Wednesday night dinners. She especially loved playing bridge and her love of playing cards has been passed down to her children and grandchildren. Blessed be her memory.
Her loving family includes, husband of 57 years, Ron of Minot; children, Craig (Joanne) Stein, Cassie Stein, Jay (Sharella) Stein and John Stein all of Minot; 8 grandchildren: Sydney, Mya & Piper Stein; Jake, Hailey & Bella Stein; Kylie & Tanner Stein; brother, Pat (Juana) Peterson, Minot; several nieces and nephews.
Pinky was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Kay Anderson.
