Zane Zuleger , 78, Minot, died Saturday, December 17, 2022, in a Minot hospital.

Zane was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Milton and Mabel (Kluge) Zuleger. He was raised and educated in Black Creek, WI, graduating from Seymour High School before attending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where he majored in agricultural economics.

Zane met and married fellow student, Susan McLaughlin.  They had a daughter, Margaret, and continued their educational journeys while raising a family until they divorced.

Zane attended graduate school in Madison, WI, for a while, but left to manage co-ops in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Montana, and then finally Minot, ND.

Zane enlisted in the US Navy at age 31 and served as a hospital corpsman.  After his honorable discharge, he used his GI bill to return to Minot and earn another bachelor's degree, this time in nursing from Minot State.

Zane met Judy Hardy (Wiltse) in the nursing program, they married, and were together until her passing in 2017.  Zane became the stepfather of Judy's four children, Kali, James, Debbie and Glen.

Zane worked for Trinity and other hospitals in Minot until he retired.

He also went back to school two more times, first at Minot State for a Masters in Hospital Administration, and then back to Madison for a Masters to become a Clinical Nurse Specialist.  As a clinical nurse specialist, Zane worked in the mental health field and had prescribing authority for the treatment in that field.

Zane loved playing guitar and singing his whole life.  In recent years, he performed with Frozen Fingers and enjoyed a solo career at many of the surrounding senior living establishments.

Zane is survived by his daughter Margaret Zuleger (Michael Tanzillo), Crystal Lake, IL; grandchildren Zoe Zuleger, Crystal Lake, IL, and Quinn Zuleger, Portland, OR; stepchildren Kali (Hardy) Hieb (Eric), Bismarck, ND; James Hardy, Bismarck, ND: Debbie Shanaver, Coloma, MI; Glen Hardy (Konnie), Minot, ND; step grandchildren, Ross, Jenna and Elsie Hardy, all Minot, Jei Hardy, Vanceboro, NC, Shawn Hardy, Odenton, MD and Michael Hardy, Bismarck, ND, Lane Kashur, Oak Park, IL, and Joseph Hieb, Bismarck, ND; sister Faye Veldt, Black Creek, WI.

Zane was preceded in death by his parents and wife Judy.

A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 1407 S. Broadway Suite C, Minot, ND 58701.

Thomas Family Funeral Home of Minot has been entrusted with cremation arrangements.
