Yvonne C. Schreiner, 94, Minot, passed into the loving embrace of her husband Ralph Saturday, November 11, 2023 in a Minot nursing home.

Yvonne was born February 21, 1929 in Powers Lake, ND, the daughter of Johnny M. and Esther (Breding) Van Berkom. She was raised and educated in Powers Lake and furthered her education in beautician school in Grand Forks. It was there that she met the love of her life, Ralph Schreiner. They were united in marriage on June 24, 1949 at the Federated Church in Grand Forks.

They lived in Grand Forks for a short time and then moved to Minot in the early 1950's, where, along with raising her 3 children, she was employed as a beautician at Marge's and later Alice's Beauty Salons. Ralph died November 1, 2007, after which Yvonne took over as matriarch of the large and fun-loving Schreiner clan. She was affectionately referred to by all as "GG". She continued to make her home in Minot living independently until 2018 at which time she joined her sister, Adonna, at Somerset Court. She was a much-loved resident of Somerset Court up until a month before her passing.

Yvonne was a longtime member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot, where she was active with the Women's Circle and taught Sunday School. She also served as a leader for Girl and Boy Scouts. In later years was active with tennis, golf, bridge clubs and loved to spend many hours in her flower garden. She could also be found attending many of her grandchildren's extracurricular events. After their retirement Ralph and Yvonne spent several winters in Palm Springs where they were visited often by their children and grandchildren.

Her loving family includes, children, Lance (Laurie) Schreiner, Bismarck, Ron (Celeste) Schreiner, Boca Raton, FL, Pam (Dan) Holwegner, Minot; grandchildren, Kursten (Mike) Cooper, Delayne (Mike) Ballard, Aaron (Rachel) Schreiner, Marlayna Schreiner, Brady (Carrie Jo) Pearson, Paul (Devanni) Pearson & Laura (Brady) Wheeler; and many great & a few great great grandchildren. She always lit up in their presence. Siblings, Lupe (Bob) Obert, Stanley, Lowell (Leanne) Van Berkom, St. Paul & Barbara (Ray) Zeena, Colorado; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 58 years, Ralph; grandsons, Kurt Schreiner and Eric Dienert along with her sisters, Adonna & Darlene and a brother, Roger.

Celebration of Life Funeral: Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday, November 15th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot followed by a time for family & friends to share memories from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Interment: Veterans section of Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Memorials : Preferred to Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot.
