Yvonne Lorraine (Falstad) Hoover , 90, Minot, died Wednesday, February 19, 2020 in her home.

Yvonne Lorraine was born November 28, 1929 to Eugene and Ella (Westberg) Falstad in Garrison, ND. She was raised and educated in Garrison, graduating from Garrison High School in 1947. She attended the Trinity Hospital School of Nursing Program at Minot State and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing in 1950.

Yvonne was united in marriage to Melvin Hoover on July 28, 1950 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Garrison, which lead to a life together for 71 years. They made their home in Garrison for a year until moving to the Magic City in 1954.  This union was blessed with seven children.

In addition to her life as a full-time mother, Yvonne spent summers working as a Registered Nurse in the office of Dr. Richard Dormont for a number of years.

Yvonne was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minot, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of Christian Women's Association.  She also belonged to the Homemakers Club and the PTA.  Yvonne was a talented musician who taught piano lessons to many over the years. She led the (Green Valley) neighborhood kids' band, and played the violin and clarinet. Yvonne also enjoyed golfing with her husband.

We believe all the heavens are rejoicing with mom saying "Well done! Good and faithful servant."

After 90 years, nearly all her friends were waiting, miscarried children, eldest son, her parents, grandparents, and ALL those she told about eternity and the love of Christ… Sunday school students and grocery clerks, waitresses and beauticians AND probably 1000's more she impacted indirectly that we will only discover when we get there too.

Yvonne lived well, listened well, and LOVED well and will be sorely missed. Not just as our sweet mother, wife, and gram, but as our friend and confidant.

Yvonne is survived by her husband of 69 years, Melvin Hoover, Minot; children, Eugene (Becky) Hoover, Platte City, MO, Ford Hoover, Sun City West, AZ, Melanie (Carl) Cathey, Dallas, TX, Carrie (Don) Folkert, Minot, ND, Spencer (Kristin) Hoover, Litchfield Park, AZ and DeNeé Kurpiel, Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Jason Hoover, Kirk Hoover, Ryan Hoover, Ashley (Hoover) Bodik, Lanna (Armstrong) Kreck, Chuck Huber, Heather Huber, Jason Huber, Skye (Folkert) Leedahl, Amber Folkert, Morgan Schmaltz, Kyle Schmaltz, Amber(Kurpiel) Jeffcoat and Mandie Kurpiel; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gary Falstad, Kent, OH, Reneé Serrin, Seattle,WA, Robert Falstad, Sequim, WA and Mona Olson, Minot, ND, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
