Obituary

Wynette L. Halden, 95, Rural Max, died Thursday, August 1, 2019 in  Minot Health & Rehab.

Wynette was born March 28, 1924 on the family farm in Iota Flat Township of Ward County, the daughter of August and Rosella (Anhorn) Marschall.  She attended country schools and graduated from Minot High School.

Wynette was united in marriage to Ernest Halden on October 11, 1942 in Minot.  When Ernest was drafted into the U.S. Army, she followed him to Georgia for basic training.  Shortly after his deployment overseas for World War II, she returned to Minot.

Upon completion of the war, he returned to Minot and they made their home in Minot until  they purchased a  farm in Newman Township in 1949.   Wynette was not only a farm wife but also farm partner.   She milked cows, fed a variety of animals, hauled hay, picked rocks and hauled many, many loads of grain.  She loved to mow her yard and grow beautiful flowers and gardens.  Even though Ernest died on May 19, 1983, she continued to live and help on the farm until two weeks ago.

Wynette was a lifelong member of Hope Lutheran Church, rural Sawyer, where she was active, taught Sunday School and participated in many other capacities.   She had also served on the Newman Township Board as treasurer for many years.  She enjoyed people and was always very generous and concerned about others.  Above all else, Wynette loved her family and they will always remember and miss her.

Her loving family includes: children: Larry (Diana) Halden, Minot and Julayne (Lee) Corrie, Minneapolis, MN; 4 grandchildren to include: Heather (Paul) Croke, Dustin (Kristen) Halden, Chad Corrie & Shane Corrie; 8 great grandchildren: Brielle, Lauren & Carston Croke; Mia, Brooks, Sienna, Rhea & Lila Halden;  brother, Elloide (JoAnn) Marschall, Max; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wynette was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 41 years, Ernest; brother Vernon Marschall and his wife, Jeanette and sister, Gloriann Roteliuk and her husband, Richard.
