Obituary

Winona M. Shaw, 83, Minot, formerly of Williston, died Thursday, October 7, 2010 in a Minot Nursing Home.

Winona was born December 24, 1926 at Plattsmouth, Nebraska, the daughter of Clifford and Mata (Law) Shafer. She was raised and educated at Plattsmouth and attended school there. She was once married to James Shaw. She lived at Williston for more than 60 years, where she was employed with F.W. Woolworths for over 25 years as manager of the lunch counter. She retired in 1988 and moved to Minot in 2007, entering Trinity Homes that same year.

Winona was a member of First United Methodist Church, Williston. She had been a member of the Women's Service League of the Church, and the Women of the Moose Lodge in Williston. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, bowling, watching the Food Channel on TV, playing cards, listening to music, along with spending time with family.

Winona is survived by her daughters, Carol (Roger) Fischer, Dickinson, ND and Nancy (Bruce) Anderson, Minot, ND; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Nora Meyer, Murdock, Nebraska, along with several nieces and nephews.

Winona was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Teresa Mauer, brothers, Clifford and Charles, sisters, Lila Brandon, Maryann McGill, Rose Hurlbut and Sharon Sharp.

Services: Friday, October 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Faith United Methodist Church, Williston, ND
Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Williston, ND
Visitation: At the request of the family, there will be no reviewal, however friends may sign a memorial register book on Thursday, October 14, 2010 from Noon - 5:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
