Wilma Marie Humphreys, 76, Minot died on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 in a Minot hospital surrounded by her family.
Wilma was born on July 30, 1939 in Ainsworth, Iowa to Robert and Katherine (Klockenga) McFarland. She was reared and educated in Ainsworth and graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1956. As a young adult she was employed as a babysitter and grocery store employee. After she moved away from home, she worked as a switchboard operator in Fort Madison, Iowa and that is where she met Dale Humphreys.
Wilma married Dale Humphreys, the love of her life, on February 8, 1958 at "A Little Bit of Heaven Wedding Chapel" in Davenport Iowa. They made their home in Olds, Iowa and she was employed by the Marshall Furniture Store in Washington, Iowa. They lived in Winfield, Fredonia and Wyman in Iowa and Janesville, Cloquet, Litchfield in Minnesota due to Dale's transfers within the insurance industry and Wilma was a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker. The family moved to Minot in 1977 where Dale was transferred, but Wilma's number one priority continued to be the care of her husband, children and grandchildren and involvement in their interests and activities.
Wilma is a member of Vincent United Methodist Church and Aquasize and a former volunteer at Trinity Nursing Home for more than twenty years. She was a former member of North Hill United Methodist Church and Faith United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star and a local homemakers group. Even though her number one passion was her family and their activities, she especially enjoyed gardening, traveling and camping. Wilma also enjoyed fishing and deer hunting with her family. She had traveled to all 50 states and all of the Canadian provinces except Newfoundland and traveled to numerous foreign countries. Wilma also enjoyed her almost daily rides with Dale throughout the ND countryside on many back-roads and prairie trails.
During the last 20 years Dale and Wilma spent winters in Texas, spending the last 6 years at their winter home in Yuma, Arizona where they enjoyed the warm weather and relaxing in their pool.
Wilma's loving family includes her husband of fifty-eight years Dale; children: Jacqueline (Dr. Thomas) Slagle, Michael (Kim) Humphreys, David (Stacy) Humphreys and Tanya (Mike) Couture all of Minot; grandchildren: Jennifer (Thomas) Talbert, Joshua Slagle (Mandy Nelson), Megan and Makenzie Humphreys, Amber (Scott) Steffen, Angela (Phil) Gustafson, Ashley (Kyler) Macy, Kelsey and Tyler Humphreys, Katherine, Elizabeth and Sophia George, Natalie, Nathan and Nicole Couture; great grandchildren: Landon, Mason, Remy, Carter, Trae, Kanye, Haylee, Kaylee, Addison, Dresden, Gabriel, Reese, Rylee, Ryann, Regan, Lyndon, McKenna, Mariah and Madisyn; brother: Dick (Bebe) McFarland of Ainsworth, Iowa and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
