William N. Treckman, 69, Minot, went to be forever with his Lord on May 5, 2016 from a Minneapolis hospital surrounded by his loving family.

William was born March 15, 1947, to Harry and Margaret (Frielingsdorf) Treckman in Astoria, NY. He was raised and educated in Valley Stream, NY and following his high school graduation he enlisted into the US Air Force on September 8, 1965. He served his country honorably home and abroad for the next twenty-one years in the Strategic Air Command during the Cold and Vietnam Wars. He was honorably discharged on January 31, 1987, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant.

While stationed at Minot Air Force Base, Bill met a farmer's daughter, Carol Schmidt. They were joined in marriage on May 23, 1976 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot. They made their home in Minot. Bill attended Minot State University earning a Bachelor of Computer Science Degree. He provided computer support for the Ward County and the City of Minot for many years and currently was providing Xerox copier support for Digital Office Center in Minot.

Bill was a baptized and confirmed, a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minot for nearly 40 years. There he participated on the finance committee for a number of years, served both as a congregation chairman and church elder in addition to attending Bible study at the church.

Bill's hobbies included doing yard work and snow removal, not just for own home but assisting neighbors and his church. He prided himself in his many wood art and do-it-yourself projects. He enjoyed reading, creating Lego projects, following the Minnesota Twins and playing with his granddaughter, Emilee. He will be missed by all who shared in his life and those who were lucky enough to be 'ribbed' by him during your encounter.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Carol, Minot; son, Benjamin (Johna) Treckman, Portland, OR; daughter, Jeanette (Roger) Wirtzfeld, Bismarck, ND; granddaughter, Emilee Wirtzfeld; sisters, Elizabeth Treckman, Valley Stream, NY and Margaret (William) Ruger, Clearwater, FL; brother-in-law, Gary (Darlene) Schmidt, Hanna City, IL along with several nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David, sister, Diane and mother and father-in-law, Agnes and Herman Schmidt.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation: Thursday, May 12, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot.
