William Louis "Bill" Stevick , 82, Minot died on Sunday, February 3, 2013 on arrival at a Minot hospital.
William was born on November 1, 1930 on the Stevick family farm near Des Lacs, ND to William "Pete" and Harriette (McAlmond) Stevick. He was reared and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot Model High School in 1948. As a young adult he enlisted in U.S. Air Force and served his country throughout the world for twenty-six years. He spent two tours of duty in Vietnam as a First Sergeant in Special Operations. He received his honorable discharge as a Master Sergeant with the 64th Support Squadron as a Physiological Training Technician in the altitude chamber.
Bill married Virginia Young on February 4, 1951 in Quartzite, AZ. They made their home at various Air Force bases around the world. Following his honorable discharge they moved to Minot in 1974 where Bill graduated from Minot State University with a degree in business and he was employed at the Speedway Bar. Following his graduation he was employed as the manager of the College Mini Mart and owned and operated the Airport Restaurant and Casa Del Norte Restaurant. He retired in 2008.
Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Disabled American Veterans. He especially enjoyed reading and travel, was an avid coin collector, but his number one passion was his family.
Bill's loving family includes his wife of 62 years: Virginia; children: Linda Stevick and Sharon Stevick both of Minot and Steven (Joni) Stevick of Lewisville TX; grandchildren: Elisabeth (Eric) Westman, Jennifer (Henry) Holland, Dustin Stevick (Chloe Khazali); great grandchildren: Jacob Otto, Alex and Aaron Westman; sister: Peggy (Jim) Nelson of Fort Dodge Iowa; brother-in-law: Eugene Sjaastad of Minot; sister-in-law: Charlotte (Bill) Skinner of Riverside CA; brother-in-law: Norman (Billie) Young of Grand Terrace CA; uncle: Floyd (MaryAnne) Stevick of Hampshire TN and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, son: William Keith Stevick and sister: Patricia Sjaastad.
Celebration of the Life of William Stevick with full military honors by the Minot Air Force Base Honor Guard: Friday, February 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church Minot.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Minot.
Visitation: Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
