William Havlicek, 61, Minot formerly of Fort Walton Beach, FL died Thursday, February 28, 2019 in a Minot nursing home.
William was born July 11, 1957 in Darmstadt, Germany to William D. Snipes and Ingeborg (Bauer) Snipes Havlicek. They moved back to the US in 1959 when his father was transferred to Ft. Stewart in Georgia.
In July of 1974, shortly after his 17th birthday, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served honorably until his discharge on July 28, 1978. Following his service he spent the next ten years of his life enjoying the sand and waves of the Caribbean.
He landed in Fort Walton Beach, Florida in the early 1990's. He spent his working years in the construction industry and retired in 2017 when he moved to Minot, ND to be near his sister.
William enjoyed seeing the sites the world had to offer and often captured them with his camera. He kept the love of photography his entire life. He also enjoyed biking and was known to many as a builder.
William is survived by two sisters, Anita Havlicek of Goodyear, AZ and Anne Snipes of Kellogg, Idaho along with a number of nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his mother and father and brothers, Hans J. and Glen L. Snipes.
