Obituary

William "Bill" Ehlers, 74, Minot, died on Monday, June 3, 2013 at his home.
Bill was born November 25, 1938 at Minot, North Dakota to Harold and Florence (McGinn) Ehlers. He was raised and educated in Minot. He attended St. Leo's Catholic School where he excelled athletics and was honored as Homecoming King. He graduated in 1956.
Bill attended Minot State University and was a sports writer for the school paper, The Red and Green while studying there. He also attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.
Bill enlisted into North Dakota Army National Guard, serving his country from August 31, 1961 to August 30, 1967.
Following his military service he returned to Minot and began a long and successful career in sales. Bill was once married to Lois Marchus. This union was blessed with two children, Julie and Mark.
Bill enjoyed hunting, golfing but was most often found enjoying a sports event with his friends.
He was a faithful member of St. Leo's Catholic Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Richard Compton.
Bill is survived by his loving children, daughter, Julie Herzig, Burlington, ND; son, Mark Ehlers, Onamia, MN; grandchildren, James Nicholas and Mallory Elizabeth Herzig; sister, Cres Compton, Grand Forks, ND; niece, Mary (Keith) Morehouse and nephews, Mike (Kris), Patrick (Nancy) and Jeff (Anne) Compton and a host of friends. Bill will be greatly missed by all whose lives he has touched.
Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, to be held once cemetery conditions improve.
Visitation: Was held Friday, June 7, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials : preferred to the Second Story or to Bishop Ryan's Athletics.
