William Lester "Bill" Cresap , 75, Minot died on Friday, November 5, 2010 in a Minot clinic.
Bill was born on February 20, 1935 in Valley City, ND to Verl and Martha (Bond) Cresap. He was reared and educated in Valley City and graduated from Valley City High School in 1953. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in August of 1954, and served until his honorable discharge on August 20, 1956. He returned to Valley City and graduated from Valley City State College in 1959.
Bill married Monica Gamrath on April 17, 1958 in Moorhead MN. They made their home in Grace City, Bowden and Linton for seven years, where he taught school. He began his career in the insurance industry in 1965 as an adjuster for Farmers Union Insurance in Jamestown. He transferred to Grand Forks, before joining NoDak Mutual Insurance Company in 1970 as an adjuster in the Minot area. He retired in 1997.
Bill was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Eagles Aerie and Moose Lodge, all in Minot. He enjoyed gardening and playing cards, especially pinochle.
Bill's loving family includes : wife of 52 years, Monica; sons: Guy Cresap of Buckley WA, Todd (Linda) Cresap of Minot, and Cory Cresap of Bellevue WA; grandchildren: Andrew, Alex and Melissa; sisters: Barbara (Ronald) Affeldt and Shirley Cresap, both of Bismarck, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister Dora.
Funeral Service:
Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark's Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment
:Veteran's Section of Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation:
Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to St. Mark's Lutheran Church choir or youth group, or the Second Story.
