William Braun, 79, Minot died on Friday, May 10, 2019 in a Minot hospital.
William August "Bill" Braun was born on July 4, 1939 in Minot to Max and Edna (Reinke) Braun. He was raised on a farm northeast of Minot in McKinley Township of Ward County and attended Harrison Township School prior to graduating from Minot High School in 1957. As a young adult he was employed by Peter Kiewitt Construction Company. He entered the U.S. Army in September of 1958 and served in Germany and at Fort Huachuca, AZ where he was employed in the office of the Post Commander. He received his honorable discharge in September of 1961 and returned to Minot and was employed at Westlie Motor Company.
William married Barbara Larson on July 3, 1966 at Hope Lutheran Church in Tonasket, WA. They made their home in Minot where Bill continued with Westlie Motor Company in the parts department. He retired in 2018 following 57 years.
Bill was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder and was a member of the church choir. He especially enjoyed reading, garden produce, and relating to people.
Bill's loving family includes his wife of 52 years: Barbara; children: Stephen (Ruth) Braun of Spring Valley, CA, James (Ethel) Braun of Detroit, Jonathan (Angeles) Braun of Jacksonville FL, Timothy Braun of Grafton and Elizabeth (Brady) Sorensen of Minot; grandchildren: Rachel (Reo) Allen, Hannah, Kara, Sonja, Vanessa, Daniel and Jeremiah Braun; siblings: Maria (Leonard) Nelson of Minot and Marvin (Kathy) Braun of Minneapolis and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Wilma Ebberson and Robert "Bob" and Bernard Braun and Lorraine Goldade.
Funeral Service: Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery - rural Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Second Story – Minot, Lutheran Hour Radio Program, or to the ND Developmental Center in Grafton.
