Obituary

The kind and gentle soul of William Joseph Bossert , 92, Minot, transitioned to heaven on Saturday, March 24, 2018 in a Minot Hospital.

William was born May 30, 1925 at Balfour, North Dakota the son of Joseph and Eugenia (Boehm) Bossert. He was raised and educated at Balfour and graduated from Drake High School in 1944. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on November 11, 1943, and dutifully served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He received his honorable discharge on February 19, 1946. He returned to North Dakota and attended Minot State Teacher's College for 2 years. He graduated from NDSU in Fargo and received a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy in 1951. William was a lifelong learner who enjoyed the challenge of updating his professional knowledge or perfecting a new skill needed for one of his many hobbies.

William was employed with the Drake Pharmacy from 1951-1957 and was united in marriage to Ramona Toy on October 12, 1957 in Drake. What an adventure it was for this stoic, unassuming German when he married into that large, demonstrative Bohemian family. William and Ramona lived in Williston for a short time before moving to Minot. William then became employed at Trinity Hospital in the Pharmacy department from 1957-1965. He later was employed at the John Moses Air Force Hospital as a pharmacist until he retired in 1993 (although he was talked into moonlighting at Keycare Pharmacy for many years after his "retirement"). Ramona died April 3, 2017 and was waiting for him in their spotlessly clean heavenly mansion.

William was a longtime member of St John the Apostle Catholic Church in Minot, where he served on the Church Council and as an usher. William more recently enjoyed the services led by Deacon Steve Mays at Edgewood Vista, Minot. William was also active with the VFW Post #753, Elks Lodge #1089 and the Souris Valley Amateur Radio Club. He was a Licensed Master Watchmaker and a former member of the Minot Eagles Aerie. William's hobbies included: reading, fishing, hunting, woodworking (especially bird houses and doll houses), gardening and conversing with people worldwide on his "ham" radio. William was an Extra class licensed Amateur Radio Operator - call sign KHFK - and his family often fell asleep to the sound of radio waves or Morse code messages. What an honor and a privilege it was to share in this virtuous man's life.

William is survived by: his daughters, Crystal (John) Gilles and Charlene (Dale) Baker, both of Minot; grandchildren: Aubern (Dale) Johnson, Chelsey Watkins, Brandon (Holly) Toy, Wesley Joseph Halseth and Jordan (A.J. Moss) Halseth; step grandchildren, Paul and Josie Gilles, Allen, James and Joshua (Katlyn) Baker; great grandchildren, Elanna Johnson, Alexandrew Toy, Abigaile Toy, Samuel Budreau and Isaac Moss; sister, Emma (Carl) Falcon, Carollton, TX; brother in law, Wallace Music, Lacey, WA; several nieces and nephews, and all of Ramona's remaining, loving family.

William was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 59 years, Ramona; brother, John; sisters, Anna Crowley and Bertha Music.
