Willard Erdman, 90, Minot died Sunday, September 1, 2019 in his home following a lengthy battle with Blood Cancer.
Willard Alfred Erdman Sr. was born on July 21, 1929 in Minot to Paul and Lillian (Lundy) Erdman. He was raised and educated in Minot. As a young adult he was employed at the V.A. Hospital and at Fisher Motors for two years.
Willard married Marlene Berends on May 9, 1951 in Miles City, MT. They made their home in Montana and Utah while Willard was employed as a seismographer and in South Dakota, North Dakota and Wyoming while Willard was employed as a uranium driller for Petty Geophysical. They moved to Minot in 1958, when Willard became employed by Atlas Ready Mix as a truck driver. Eventually, he served as plant manager. He started the local Eagle Vault Company in 1985. Willard retired in 2011. His son Bill continues to own and operate the business.
Willard is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot where he has served as a Trustee, Elder and Usher. He especially enjoyed his greenhouse, gardening, hunting, woodworking, along with spending time at their lake home on Lake Metigoshe.
Willard's loving family includes his wife of 68 years Marlene; children: William (Laverne) Erdman and Willard Jr. (Myong) Erdman, both of Minot, Mark (Loraine) Erdman of Gladstone, ND and Theresa (Ted) Bruesch of Minot; seven grandchildren to include: Mark (Laura) Erdman Jr., Lisa (Phillip) Corey, Kristi (Nathan) Drost, Matthew Erdman (Brittany), Joshua Bruesch (Ella Parker), Jacob (Alicia) Bruesch and Jessica Bruesch (Shaun Betts) and great grandchildren to include: Ethan, Payton, Amie, Angie, Addison, Colby, Carter, Cadence, Kohner, Kenadi, Baylen, Anabelle, Abigail, Arabella, Diante, Caden, Josie, Jaxon and Mia.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents, grandson: Christopher Erdman and siblings: Harold (Bernice) Erdman, Ethel (Art) Olafson and Darlene Levchenko.
Funeral service: Monday, September 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot. Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. Visitation: Sunday, September 8th from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Shepherd Hills at the Crossroads, St. John ND or to an organization of the donor's choice.
