Wilhelm Joseph "Bill" Alef, Sr., 74, Glenburn, died on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in his home.
Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956 and served 28 years in the military prior to his retirement in 1983 as a Senior Master Sergeant.
Bill married Mary Lynn Zimmerman on September 25, 1982 at Lynch Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Glenburn. They made their home in Glenburn, and following his retirement from the military, he was employed by Army and Air Force Force Exchange Service as a certified mechanic at the Minot Air Force Base until 2001.
Bill was a member of Lynch Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Glenburn, where he served as head elder for several years. He was also active with the Hooterville Flion Lions. His special interests included fishing, hunting, gardening and cooking.
Bill's surviving family includes his wife, Mary of Glenburn; daughters, Tina (Todd) McPeek, Green Bay, WI; Dawn Bloom, Neenah, WI; sons, Wilhelm "Beaver" of Green Bay, WI, Kurt (Maggie) of Two Rivers, WI; stepdaughter, Tina Wiedeman of Maxbass; stepson, Damon (Brenda) Zeltinger of Pierre, SD; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law Dolly Alef.
Funeral Service: Monday, December 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Lynch Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Glenburn.
Interment will be in Lynch Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Glenburn.
Visitation: Sunday, December 22, 2013 from noon until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
Memorials are preferred.
