Wilbert Schmuhl, 82, Minot died Wednesday July 2, 2014 in a Minot nursing home.

Wilbert was born April 7, 1932, in Joliet, IL to Gilbert and LuLu (Kleeper) Schmuhl. He was raised in Frankford, IL.

Wilbert entered the US Army on April 15, 1954, serving three tours during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on March 10, 1960.

He was united in marriage to Loretta Reed on January 1, 1960 in Washington. They lived various places in the United States while Wilbert was employed as a truck driver. They moved to Minot in 2007 to be closer to family.

Wilbert's loving family includes, his wife Loretta Schmuhl, Minot, children, Robert Schmuhl, Minot, Donna Smith Schmuhl, Minot, Debbie (Corey) Boenig, Conneticut, Bill Schmuhl, Las Vegas, NV, Darren Decker, Seattle, WA, Doug (Brenda) Ewart, Monticello, VT; grandchildren, Kristina Warta, Robert Millar, Nick Terry, Alan Terry, Austin Terry and Brittany Terry; great-grandchildren, Austin McHale, Everett Warta, Morgan Warta, Evan Millar, Gage Millar, Kaylee Millar, Adyn Millar, Taylor Warta and Leighton Epperson and sister, Gladys Adolphi, Las Vegas, NV.

Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Bernice Havley, Marie Kline, Shirley Kampi and June Ullrich.

Interment took place on July 11, 2014 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
