Wendell Robert Lien, age 69, of Felton, MN previously St. Paul, MN passed away in his sleep from Congestive Heart Failure on the evening of May 14, in Hillsboro, Texas. He was traveling back to MN in his RV to spend the summer with his family and friends.
Wendell was born July 9, 1947 in Powers Lake, ND. He was the first born of the Lien triplets. He graduated from Tioga High, Tioga, ND. In 1965. Wendell graduated from Trinity Bible College, Ellendale, ND in 1969. He moved to Rockford Ill. after graduating college and worked for Chrysler until he moved to Silver Bay, MN in 1970 and began working at Reserve Mining Company. Wendell got married and started a family in 1974. He continued to live and work in Silver Bay, MN with his family until he retired from Northshore Mining in 2004. Wendell retired at the age of 57 because of a disability he had sustained in 1991 while helping a friend at the Beaver Bay Inn and Motel.
Wendell divorced and moved to St. Paul, MN where he lived for 12 years. In April of 2016 Wendell decided to buy an RV so that he could get away from the cold winters. Wendell spent the last 6 months of his life in his RV in Harker Heights, TX where he enjoyed the weather and new friendships. He repeatedly told friends and family that he loved his new home and that it was one of the best decisions he had made.
Wendell will be missed by his 3 children; Aleen (Vien) Le, Cynthia Schut, and Jerrick (Jessica) Lien. His 5 grandchildren; Alexxa DeQuevedo, Breckin Lien, Sophia Schut, and Nevan and Noelle Le. His 6 siblings; Elaine (Dell) Martinson, Floyd (Carmen) Lien, Leatha (Jim) Campbell, Laurel (Juan) Wilmoth, Laures (Bob) Helseth, and Donald Lien.
Welcoming him into heaven is his beloved parents Herbert and Marie Lien, fur babies Holly, Lexi, and Daizey, as well as many friends and family.
Wendell was a compassionate man who loved unconditionally and always gave way more than received. He truly cherished all that he had.
A family committal ceremony will be held on July 1st at the Powers Lake Cemetery, and a Celebration of Life will follow at the Powers Lake Assemblies of God Church. A memorial will also be held in Silver Bay, MN at a later date.
