Wayne F. Witty, 77, Minot and formerly of the Columbus, ND area died on Thursday, May 23, 2019 from Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Wayne Franklin Witty was born on December 7, 1941 in Powers Lake, ND to Walter and Lillian (Anderson) Witty. He was raised on a farm near Larson, ND, attended a country school, graduated from Columbus High School in 1959 and received an Associate's Degree in Auto Body Repair from the ND State College of Science - Wahpeton in 1961. While attending school in Wahpeton, he met his future wife Karole Curtin.

Wayne and Karole were married on June 10, 1961 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Breckenridge, MN. They would have celebrated 58 years of marriage in less than three weeks. Karole and Wayne were soul mates and he loved her more than words could express. After the wedding, Wayne and Karole made their home in Minot, ND where they raised their two daughters and he was employed at LaHart & Moe Auto Dealership as an auto body technician. Later, he was employed by Broadway Body Shop where he perfected his craft and enjoyed his 40 years of work.

Wayne and Karole purchased a cabin at Strawberry Lake in the early 1980's and enjoyed over 30 years of family gatherings and an annual family fishing tournament. An annual highlight for Wayne was the Independence Day holiday picnic at the lake where extended family would gather for a weekend of barbecuing, reminiscing and pontoon rides.

On Saturdays at Noon, you could always find Wayne enjoying his beer and burrito. He especially enjoyed grilling and cooking for the family. Also, he had a passion for woodworking and created numerous beautiful works of art for his family and friends. He was very talented and put so much love and time into his projects. Wayne loved his family and was always proud of their accomplishments and achievements. Additionally, he loved his pets and always had a sidekick nearby while he was working in the yard or garage.

Wayne's loving family includes his wife: Karole (Curtin) Witty; children: Deana (Jeff) Westberg of Detroit Lakes MN and Dawn (Gary) Rasmussen of Minot; four grandchildren: Danielle (Daniel) Nies, Zachary Westberg, Alecia (Andrew) Hanselman and Alex (Sara) Rasmussen; great grandchildren: Aidyn Hanselman, Ariya Hanselman, Grayson Rasmussen, Charlotte Rasmussen and Baby Nies; sister: Bonnie (Eddie) Post and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Gloria (Witty) Schneider, brother-in-law: Ned Schneider and niece: Cheree Schneider.

Public Visitation: Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
A Private Liturgy of the Word Service will be held at Thomas Family Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from noon until 5:00 p.m. at the Country Inn and Suites in Minot ND.
