Wayne Arnold Molgard, 82, Minot died on Thursday, December 8, 2011 in a Minot hospital.
Wayne was born on November 30, 1929 in Grenora to Alfred and Anna (Willette) Molgard. He was reared there and in Dunseith where he graduated from high school. As a young adult he began his railroad career with the Great Northern Railroad. His career was interrupted by his military service with the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953 during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge he transferred to the Army Reserves until 1959 and attended Dakota Business College in Fargo. Following the completion of his education he returned to his career with the Great Northern Railroad.
Wayne married Marlene Daly on March 10, 1956 in Columbia Falls, MT. They made homes in Glacier Park, MT, Minot, ND, Mt. Vernon, WA, and Longview, WA, where he was continually promoted by the GNRR/Burlington Northern Railroad and retired as Trainmaster in December of 1984. He eventually settled back in Minot, ND after retirement.
Wayne was a member of the Minot American Legion, V.F.W., Eagles Aerie and a former Scoutmaster. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son-in-law Brian and grandsons or rarely missed an opportunity to watch his only granddaughter participate in her sporting events or competitions.
Wayne's loving includes his wife of 55 years Marlene; daughters: Susan Nagel of Lehi, UT and Janel (Brian) Winkels of Minot; grandchildren: Greg Murphy of Laramie, WY, Scott (Whitney) Murphy of Midvale, UT, Brett Winkels (companion Brooke) of Minot, ND, Jenna Winkels (companion Will) of Minot, and Kris Winkels of Minot; sister: Marlene (Dean) Sanders of Detroit Lakes, MN and several nieces, nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Michelle, nephew Rodney Molgard, and brothers: Robert, Dean, and Gerald.
Funeral Service:
Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment
will be in Rosehill Memorial Park Minot
Visitation:
Friday from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to the American Cancer Society or to the donor's choice.
