Wayne Grunenwald, 91, Minot and formerly of Lakota died peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 in his home following a long battle with COPD.  His loving family was at his side.

Carl Wayne Grunenwald was born on November 24, 1928 in Devils Lake, ND to Henry and Agnes (Wogsland) Grunenwald.  He was raised and educated in Devils Lake and graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1947.  He continued his education by attending the North Dakota State School of Science where he received specialized training in auto body repair.

Wayne married Ione Olsson on October 1, 1950 in Devils Lake.  He joined the North Dakota Army National Guard in 1951 and served until his honorable discharge on September 30, 1952.  Following his discharge they moved to Mayville where he was employed as an aotobody repairman.  The family moved to Lakota in 1956 where he owned and operated Wayne's Autobody.  He moved to Minot in 1978 shortly after becoming employed by American Family Insurance as an Adjustor.  He retired from that position in 1994.  Ione died on September 26, 1994.

Wayne was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and especially enjoyed golfing, shooting billiards and spending time with his family.

Wayne's loving family includes his children: John (Rachel) Grunenwald of Parma ID, Mark (Jane) Grunenwald of Minot and Nancy Missildine of Minot; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings:  Helen Cole, Alice Smith, Mary Ellen Williams and Gene Grunenwald and his special friend Pat McCarthy.

Celebration of the Life of Wayne Grunenwald:  Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church - Minot.  Face coverings are required. A livestream of the service can be found at Zion Lutheran Church's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/zionlutheranchurchminot
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church.
Memorials are preferred to Trinity Hospice.
