Warren Paulson,
89, Minot, formerly of the Stanley area, passed away Monday, June 6, at the Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND.
Warren was born August 27, 1921 to Henry and Pauline (Andersen) Paulson. He was born on the family farm NW of Stanley, ND, and was the youngest of 8 children.
Warren attended school in Lunds Valley and graduated from high school in 1939. He had many fond memories of attending school in Lunds Valley and of his various teachers over the years. Warren stated Lunds Valley had two grain elevators, a lumber yard, a bank, two grocery stores, a stockyard, and a pool hall where they had dances and recreation in those days and was quite a town. Warren attended school at Wahpeton State School of Science and then returned home to the family farm and farmed for his mother and father.
On August 3, 1952, Warren married Dolores Huff of Donnybrook ND. They were united in marriage at the Vincent Methodist Church in Minot, ND. After they were married, they purchased the family farm from Warren's father. Together they spent many years raising grain and cattle and five childrenTom, Terry, Roger, Kathy, & Rick.
Warren and Dolores enjoyed working hard and developed a beautiful farmstead. In 1962, due to their hard labor, they received the ND Conservation Award in Mountrail County, which they were very proud of. Together they also traveled in their various recreational vehicles throughout the US & Canada. They spent most of their travel time in California, Washington and Arizona visiting family and friends.
Warren farmed until he retired due to ill health. They continued to live on the farm but rented out the land. Warren still raised cattle for a few more years. They bought a home and moved to Minot in 1991. The farmstead was then sold. They lived in the condo for 20 years and then moved to Somerset Court in Minot, where Dolores still resides.
Warren was strong in the Christian faith. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Lunds Valley, the Lutheran Church of Stanley, and later the Vincent Methodist Church of Minot.
His loving family includes: wife of 58 years, Dolores Paulson; children: Thomas Paulson of San Jose, CA, Dr. Roger (Darlene) Paulson of Bakersfield, CA, Kathy (Bruce) Liudahl of Williston, and Dr. Rick (Debbie) Paulson of Bismarck; grandchildren: Michael (Kirsten Sjue) Dobrovolny of Williston, Nathan (Sarah) Dobrovolny of Grand Forks, Karmyn (Nathan) TeSoro of Williston, Kenneth Paulson of Bismarck, Alexandar Warren Paulson of Bismarck, Sara Paulson of Bismarck; Erika Paulson of Bismarck, Tara Paulson of San Jose, CA, Tracy Paulson of Sacramento, CA, and Vanessa Paulson and Taryn Paulson, both of Bakersfield, CA; great-grandchildren: Rylan, Kiley and Kenly Dobrovolny, all of Grand Forks, and Abigayle and Isaac TeSoro, both of Williston; brother: Hardus Paulson of Carpio; sisters: Annie Craft and Emma (Rudy) Kanenwisher, both of Stanley, and Oranda Nelson of Seattle, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
