Wanda Borgen , 84, Minot, died Sunday, April 26, 2020 in a Minot nursing home.
Wanda Deborah Nielsen was born December 11, 1935 to Ludvig and Bernice (Glaze) Nielsen in Grenora, ND. She was raised and educated in Grenora, graduating from Grenora High School in 1953.
Wanda earned her Standard Teaching Certificate from Minot Teacher's College and began teaching in Stady, ND.
Wanda was united in marriage to Jerome Borgen on August 19, 1956 in Grenora. They made their home in Flaxton, where she taught until moving to the Williston area and teaching in District 8 for three years. They moved to Minot in 1962 and Grand Forks in 1968. They returned to Minot in 1970, where she ran a daycare until retiring in 2010.
Jerome died November 4, 1987. She continued to live in Minot.
Wanda was a member of First Assembly of God, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of a birthday club and card club. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and crafts, especially greeting cards.
Wanda's loving family includes her children: Bonnie (Paul) Rueb of Selby, SD and Byron Borgen of Glenburn; son-in-law Lloyd Battcher of Cottage Grove, MN; 7 grandchildren: Steven (Katelynn) Rueb and Kari Rueb of Selby, SD, Brooklyn, Jameson, Kenyon, Maliyah, and Sage Borgen of Glenburn, sister-in-law Elicia Nielsen of Socorro, NM and several nieces and nephews.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome; daughter, Lori Lea Battcher and brother, Ludvig 'Dale' Nielsen.
Graveside service
: Due to the restrictions of the Covid Pandemic, a Private Graveside service by invitation will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2020 in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
A Private Family Viewing will take place in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to missions associated with First Assembly of God, Minot.
