Obituary

Walter Emmett Green, 65, 1805 Hiawatha Street, Minot, ND, passed away February 18, 2009, at home with family after a short battle with a cancer illness.

He was born in Glencarbon, Illinois to Raymond Ray Green and Amelia Marie Huser. Walter was raised in Edwardsville, Illinois until moving to Sawyer, ND at the end of 1965. He married Patricia Putney on June 6, 1966 in Sawyer, ND. They lived in Sawyer until moving and settling in Minot, ND in 1982.

Walter drove the first handicapped bus for the Commission on Aging in 1976. He enjoyed visiting, helping, and spending time with the elderly. He began driving the city bus in Minot, ND in 1979 until retiring in 1994 due to health reasons.

In his early years he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and he also enjoyed gardening, camping, and fishing with his family. He loved spending time with the grandchildren, especially the little ones.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Shirley Green, cherished in-laws, George and Eleanor Putney, brothers-in-law, Dean, Terry, Gerald, and Harold Putney and Dale Wolf and Great-Grandson, Adrian James Duncan.

Surviving family includes: Wife, Patricia Green; Sons, Dennis Green (Kim) and their sons, Brett, Shawn and Austin of Minot, ND; and Daniel Green (Rachael Parizek) and their sons, Axl and Kaden of Minot, ND; Daughters, Brenda Hartl (Rod) and their children, Kayleigh, Alex, Tanner and Erin Fontaine all of West Fargo, ND and Sherri Mehring (Mike Lewis) and her daughters, Jessica Mehring and Lisa Wobbema (Brad) of Bismarck, ND and Great-Grandchildren: Christian Duncan, Kabryan Azure, Alexander, Maylie, and Addilynn Wobbema all of Bismarck, ND; Brother, Richard Green of Minot, ND.

Funeral Service: Monday, February 23, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. in Southside Church of the Nazarene - 2220 24th Ave SE, Minot.
Interment:
Willis Township Cemetery, rural Minot, ND in the Spring 2009.
Visitation:
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot and one hour prior to the start of the service.
