Rev. Wallace "Wally" C. Rampy, 81, Minot, died Thursday, September 02, 2010, in a Minot hospital.
Wally was born October 1, 1928, in Three Forks, MT, a son of Wesley and Laurie (Ballard) Rampy. He was raised in the Montana area with its panoramic mountain views and educated at Bozeman High School, graduating in 1946.
Following his call to ministry, Wally continued his education at International Bible College in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1948. This is also where he met and later married Anne Bernice Peterman, who also attended IBC.
They started their ministry journey together in 1950. Their calling kept them in Canada for a time, but eventually led them to Mobridge, South Dakota, and throughout Washington State to communities that included Yakima, Longview, Vancouver and Prosser. A car accident claimed Anne's life on February 1, 1980.
Wally was united in marriage to Charlotte (Brostrom) Inches on July 3, 1982, in Minot, North Dakota. He continued his passion for ministry as a pastor in Moose Jaw, Sask., Grand Forks, ND and then was accepted as an associate pastor for the Church of God in Longview, WA. They moved to Minot in the early 1990's for early retirement due to Parkinson's disease. Wally always maintained his passion for the Word in teaching and giving guidance to all who crossed his path.
He was a member of the West Minot Church of God. His life interests included any and all sports, which included table games, golf, racquetball and snow skiing in addition to his love of all the outdoor sports. He spent many hours talking on the Ham Radio as WA7ILR. Wally will always be remembered fondly for his INCREDIBLE sense of humor and should have published a book featuring all of his one-liners. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who shared in his life.
