Wallace J. Johnson, 87, Minot, formerly of Upham, died Sunday, March 30, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Wallace James Johnson was born March 1, 1927 to Henry Julian and Anna Marie (Vatsvog) Johnson on their farm north of Upham. He was baptized and confirmed at Bloomfield Lutheran Church in Upham and graduated from Upham High School in 1945.

On September 5, 1948 Wallace married Evelyn June Brandt in Zion Lutheran Church, Towner, ND. They moved to Minot in October of 1949, where Wallace worked for Maytag Electric, later becoming the John Iverson Company. From 1958-1968, he managed the Great Northern Stockyards, east of Minot. Wallace later worked for Coca-Cola as plant supervisor and retired in 1989.

After retiring, Wallace and Evelyn traveled and spent winters in El Paso, TX and summers at their cabin at Lake Metigoshe. They celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary in September, 2013.

Wallace had been a member of First Lutheran Church in Minot, since the 1950\'s. Faith, family and music were all integral parts of Wallace's life.

Wallace is survived by his wife Evelyn,; daughters Linda Reiser, Hagerstown, MD and Brenda Aspaas, Glen Burnie, MD; sister, Lavonne Werle, Seattle WA; grandchildren, Laura Reiser and Todd (Cynthia) Reiser, El Paso, TX, Alyson (Alan) Tamres, Elkridge, MD, Anthony (Danelle) Aspaas, Chesapeake Beach, MD; great-grandchildren, Tanner Williams, El Paso, TX; Anneka and Davyn Aspaas, Chesapeake Beach, MD, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Henry Julian, Jr. and a granddaughter, Sarah Reiser.

Funeral Service : Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in First Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Bloomfield Lutheran Cemetery, Upham .
Visitation : Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
The family prefers memorials to the First Lutheran Church Foundation, Minot.
