William Robert Anderson, 73, Velva died on Sunday, August 22, 2010 in his home.

Bob was born on November 26, 1936 in Minot to William and Ruth (Mobeck) Anderson. As a youngster he was reared in McHenry and Hankinson. When he was four years old, his mother died and he and his three siblings were lovingly cared for by their aunt and uncle, Lillian and Clarence Miller of Velva who became known to Bob as his mom and dad. Bob graduated from Velva High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957 with a tour of duty in Korea. Following his honorable discharge he returned to the Velva area.

Bob married Virginia Harness on September 6, 1958 at Oak Valley Lutheran Church in Velva. They made their home in the Velva area for many years.

Bob was a member of the Oak Valley Lutheran Church, American Legion and the High School Sports Booster Club, all in Velva. He especially enjoyed music and sports but his passion was supporting his children and grandchildren in whatever activity they were participating.

Bob's loving family includes his wife of 51 years Virginia; children: Clair (Lonna) Anderson of Edwards, IL, Jeanne (Tom) Harty of Jamestown, Susan (David) Weidler of Velva, Mark (Sally) Anderson of Alexandria, MN and Deanne (Gregg) Ehlert of Brainerd, MN; grandchildren: Anthea and Jakob Anderson, Ryan (Brandi) Harty, Robert Harty, Kendra (Jed) Steiner, Matt (Amanda) Weidler, Tom, Josh and Sarah Weidler, Robert and Brady Anderson, Emily and Andrew Ehlert; great grandchildren: Brady and Evan Harty, Ella Steiner, and Keelah Karow, brother: Tony Anderson of Velva; mother-in-law: Borghild Harness of Velva and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by his four parents, sisters: Shirley Bechtold and Dorothy Reishus and father-in-law: Ole Harness.

Funeral Service: Friday, August 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Oak Valley Lutheran Church Velva.
Interment will be in the North Prairie Lutheran Church Cemetery Simcoe.
Visitation: Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
