Yvonne 'Vonnie' Stack, 84, Minot, died Tuesday, October 11, 2016, in her home.

Vonnie was born December 2, 1931, in Douglas, ND to Carl and Lillian (Meyer) Ostby. She grew up and was educated in Douglas. She graduated from high school in 1949 and continued her education at Minot State Teacher's College. Vonnie earned her standard teaching certificate and took a job as a teacher in Crosby.

Vonnie married John 'Jack' Stack on June 13, 1954, in Yuma, AZ. Following his military career, Vonnie and Jack made their home in Minot, where she taught at Edison School. Jack's career in the railroad led them to Bismarck for eleven years until his retirement, when they moved back to Minot. This union was blessed with three children, Jana, Jody and Greg.

Vonnie was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Minot, where she was active in church activities from quilting to Bible studies for many years. She enjoyed sewing, baking and was quite the cook in her younger years. She loved to read, always including a daily passage from the Bible. She will be missed by all who knew her for her kind and caring way.

Her surviving family includes her loving husband of 62 years, John 'Jack' Stack, Minot; children, Jana Stack, Minot, Jody (Louie) Eidenschink, Detroit Lakes, MN and Greg Stack, Minot; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Tyler) Peterson, Detroit Lakes, MN; great-grandson, Reid, Peterson; sisters, Mercedes Ostby, Auburn, WA and Aljean (Brule) Bill, Palestine, TX; brothers, Ronald (Helen) Ostby, Dickinson, ND, Richard (Kay) Ostby, Douglas, ND, Roger (Betty) Ostby, Minot, ND and Rodney Ostby, Rolla, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Vonnie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert Ostby and half-sisters, Lorraine Johnson, Aretha Ostby and Arline Tortorelli and half-brother, Duane Ostby.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: ND Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan, ND at a later date.
Visitation: Thursday, October 13, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army.
