Virginia C.  O' Brien, 84, Minot, died Wednesday, December 11, 2019 in a Minot Nursing home.

Virginia was born on September 30, 1935 in Minot, North Dakota, the daughter of John and Ruth (Reinke) Wood.   She was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to Vernon O'Brien on June 17, 1955 in Minot.    They lived in several states while Vernon traveled as a pipefitter for various companies.

They returned to Minot in 1962, where along with raising their two children, Vern and Val, she was employed locally with the Tempo Department Store from 1967-1981 as office manager and later with Voeller's Furniture Store from 1983-1986. Vernon died in 1995.  Virginia had continued to live in Minot and most recently had been a resident at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living Center.

Virginia was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot. She was also active with the Minot Eagles Auxiliary.   She enjoyed doing embroidery work, crocheting and baking.  She was also involved in an aquacise class at the YMCA.  Her most precious moments were spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially making cookies with them.

Her loving family includes :  children, Val (Wes) Kemper, Minot; Vernon "Vern" (Laurel) O'Brien, Garrison; four grandchildren to include: Alyssa, David, Ashley and Christy; six great grandchildren to include: Acelynn, Amryn, Amelia, Abbigail, Koen, Kace and future baby boy Brown; sister, Roberta "Bobbie" Perrone, Hartford, Connecticut; brothers, John J. ( Arlette) Wood, Mohall and Jerel (Karen) Wood of Colorado; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 40 years, Vernon; brothers, Jim and Jeff Wood.

Celebration of Life service : Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
