Obituary

Virginia Ann Minette, 88, Minot passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015 in her home with her loving family at her side.

Virginia was born on December 9, 1926 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Carl and Ida (Thompson) Paulson. She was reared and educated in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1944. As a young adult she was employed by Western Union in Detroit and Fargo.

Virginia married Donald Minette on September 15, 1946 in Fargo. They made their home in Fargo and West Fargo where she was employed at Ford Motor Company, Acme Welding Supply and NDSU. The family moved to Minot in 1968 where she was employed at several businesses including Kmart, Sears and True-Value Hardware and volunteered at Edison Elementary School. She retired in 1982, but had continued to reside in Minot. Don passed away on January 31, 2008.

Virginia was a member of First Lutheran Church Minot where she was very instrumental in establishing "Luther's Kitchen" the church soup kitchen and held other various volunteer positions within the church. She was a member of TOPS 200 and was the past Secretary of the Souris Valley Women's Golf Association. She especially enjoyed embroidery, cross stitching, reading, exercising, traveling, bowling and golfing.

Virginia's loving family includes her children: Michael Minette and Darren Minette both of Minot; Laurie (Dennis) Bense of Bismarck and Kathleen Minette of Tucson AZ; grandchildren: Donald (Jocelyn) Minette, Leah (Mel) Vargas and Shay Bense; great grandchildren: Dorian Minette, Sebastian, Gabriel and Aurora Vargas; siblings: Larry (Eileen) Paulson of Woodbury MN and Judy (Roger) MacZura of Pinckney MI and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother: Richard Paulson.

Celebration of the Life of Virginia Minette: Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in First Lutheran Church Minot.

Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park Minot.

Visitation: Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.

Memorials are preferred to the Greater Minot Zoological Society or First Lutheran Church Soup Kitchen.
