Virginia G. Lambert, 72, Upham, formerly of Minot, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2011 in a Minot Hospital.

Virginia was born to Francis and Nellie (Gerard) Schmidt on February 2, 1939 in Bradford, Illinois. She moved with her family to Fargo, ND, at an early age. Virginia graduated from Fargo Shanley High School in 1957.

Virginia was united in marriage to John Lambert on October 2, 1957 in Fargo, ND.

The family resided in Fargo, ND, San Diego, CA, Finley, ND, Alamogordo, NM and Moorhead, MN, before coming to Minot in 1970. Virginia was an Administrative Assistant for Minot Daily News for more than seventeen years, prior to retiring in 1997.

Virginia was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church and most recently of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She volunteered at ManorCare and for the Meals on Wheels program. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery work, and ceramics. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and traveling extensively, throughout the United States with her husband, John.

Her loving family includes : husband of fifty-four years, John; children, Valerie (Thomas) Kempf, Sawyer, Lori (Kevin Hochhalter) Raub, Surrey, James (Sandra) Lambert, Minot, Bradley (Shelli) Lambert, Minot, Chad Lambert, Surrey; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, and granddaughter, Kelsie Myers.

Funeral service : Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Vigil Prayer service : Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Tuesday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
