Violet Inez Keierleber , 91, Minot and formerly of Rapid City, SD died on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in a Minot Healthcare Center.
Violet was born on August 6, 1918 on the family farm in Blinsmon Township of Moody County near Trent, SD to Henry and Teoline (Peterson) Solsaa. She was reared on the family farm and attended rural schools in that area. Violet's mother died when she was eight years old. After completing the eighth grade, she stayed home to help on the family farm. Violet married Arthur Keierleber on January 3, 1947 in Pipestone, MN. They lived in Wahpeton, ND while Arthur attended the North Dakota State School of Science. They lived in Brookings, SD and then moved to Rapid City, SD where Arthur was employed by Ford Motors as an auto mechanic. Arthur died on June 27, 1966. Violet continued to reside in Rapid City and was employed by Control Data assembling electronic components. When she retired, she moved to Minot to be nearer her daughter's family. Recently she had been living in assisted care facilities, most recently Somerset Court and Manorcare Healthcare Center where her family was very appreciative of the excellent care she received.
Violet was a member of First Lutheran Church and had volunteered over the years with the quilting group and making lefse. She was a longtime volunteer for the Minot Commission on Aging assisting with their Meals on Wheels program. She especially enjoyed all types of crafts, painting, ceramics and quilting.
Violet's loving family includes her children: Duska and Ron LaCount of Minot and Dennis and Julie Keierleber of Hailey, Idaho; grandchildren: Michael (Laura), Brian and Peter LaCount; great grandchildren: Hayley and Alexis; sister: Adeline Johnson of Grantsburg, Wisconsin; brother: Stanley (Shirley) Solsaa of rural Trent, SD and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers: Eldo, Odean and Harold.
Memorials are preferred to Second Story or First Lutheran Church.
Visitation and Booksigning:
Saturday, October 10, 2009 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm in Thomas Family Funeral home - Minot.
Graveside Service:
Monday, October 12, 2009 at 9:00 am in the Black Hills National Veterans Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
