Violet I. Herzig, 98, rural Burlington, ND, died Sunday, May 8, 2016 at her home under the care of Hospice.
Violet was born April 10, 1918 in Ray, North Dakota the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Dennis) Schneider. She was raised in Ray until moving with her family to Minot, where she attended Lincoln Elementary School. She was united in marriage to Erwin Herzig on October 1, 1940 at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.
They made their home on a farm in Kirklie Township of Ward County and later in Foxholm Township where they farmed throughout the years and raised their three children. Erwin died August 12, 1981. Violet had continued to live on the family farm throughout the years.
Violet was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Minot. She enjoyed crocheting and various crafts, gardening and working in the yard. She was an amazing decorator for Christmas and Easter, her home was a winter wonderland!
Her loving family includes, children, Jim Herzig, rural Burlington, Daniel Herzig, rural Burlington and Donna Ness, Gig Harbor, WA; grandchildren, Cher Herzig-Baggett, Heather Herzig, Carl Herzig, Jenna Rose Herzig, Tom Herzig, Tim Herzig, Terry Herzig, Nick Herzig and Mandy Ness-Barrett; a number of great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Mary and Mildred Schneider.
Mass of Christian Burial
: Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in St John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.
Visitation
: one hour prior to the service in the Church. At the family's request, there will not be any reviewal.
