Viola May Kopp , 92, Minot and formerly of rural Des Lacs died on Friday, August 22, 2008 in an Edgeley, ND nursing home.

Viola was born on September 2, 1915 on the family farm near Des Lacs ND to Horace and Nellie (Groninger) Davy. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural schools in that area prior to graduating from Des Lacs High School in 1933. She continued her education at Trinity Hospital School of Nursing in Minot and graduated as a registered nurse in 1942. As a young adult she was employed at the Elbowoods, ND Hospital.

Viola married Othmar Kopp on October 16, 1944 in Richardton, ND. They made their home at Elbowwoods for three years, before moving to a farm near Des Lacs in 1947. Viola was employed as a nurse for several years at St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot. Othmar died on July 30, 1969.

Viola was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Foxholm and its Altar Society. She was a former member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Des Lacs where she served as organist for several years. She was active for several years with a Women's singing group and was a member of the Rolling Green Homemaker's Club. She especially enjoyed photography, gardening and traveling.

Viola's loving family includes her children: Daniel (Charlene) Kopp of Minneapolis, MN, David (Ruth) Kopp of Burlington, Raymond (Katherine) Kopp of rural Des Lacs, Gary (Judy) Kopp of Charleston IL, Janice (Steven) Moch of Edgeley and Art (Teresa) Kopp of Bismarck; eighteen grandchildren: 8 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant grandchildren and brothers: John, Carl, Marvin and Bruce Davy.

Mass of Christian Burial : Monday, August 25, 2008 at 11:00a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church , Foxholm.
Rosary : Sunday at 5:00pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot
Interment: Rolling Green Cemetery rural Des Lacs.
Visitation: Sunday from Noon-5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Des Lacs-Burlington School Foundation.
