Obituary

Veronica Lois "Verna" Borud , 91, Minot and formerly of Williston died on Friday February 16, 2007 in a Minot healthcare center.

Verna was born on September 23, 1915, in Des Lacs Township of Ward County to Elmer and Geneva (Forbragd) Griffin. She was raised in that area and educated in Des Lacs Public School System.

Verna married Adolph "Shorty" Borud on June 14, 1935 in Glasgow, Montana. They made their home in Williston where Verna was employed at Good Samaritan Hospital as a nurses' aide for five years and also did seasonal work for Hillcrest Nursery Gardens for nine years. Following Shorty's retirement in 1973 they moved to Minot to be closer to family and friends. Adolph died on March 23, 1998.

Verna was a former member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Williston where she assisted with the construction of the new church.

Verna's special interests included gardening, fishing, camping and spending time with her large family and many friends.

Verna's loving family includes her children: Myrna (Jerry) Ustanko of Fargo, Robert (Roberta) Borud of Williston, Floyd (Cindy) Borud of Minot, Dennis (Mary) Borud of Williston, Don (Steph) Borud of Bismarck and Lynn (Claudia) Borud of Nampa ID; Grandchildren: Richard, Rebecca, Kirk, Arlyn, Vicki, Julia, Stephan, Daryn, David, Debbie, Katie, Jenny, Bridget, Matthew, Meghan and Meredith; Twenty Great Grandchildren: Andrew, Daniel, Erin, Derek, Emily, Colton, Alexius, Adrian, Adam, Alaury, Kohlson, Karson, Alison, Kaleb, Hunter, Jacob, Jordan, Madison, Katrina, and Zoe; Great-Great Grandson: Lyrik; Sisters: Laura Wilson and and Inez (Duane) Glein, both of Minot, Lillian Schults, Elk River, MN and Brothers: Richard (Marge) Anderson, Garrison, ND and Lloyd (Janice) Anderson, Minot; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Shorty, son, Richard, granddaughter, Terri Borud and sister, Olive Pothen.

Funeral Service: Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Redeemers Lutheran Brethren Church - Minot.
Interment:
Will take place at a later date.
Visitation:
There will be no reveiwal, but friends and family may sign a memorial register book one hour prior to the start of the funeral service on Saturday, at the church.
