Verna Edington , 78, Minot, died Friday, September 27, 2024, in a Minot nursing home.

Verna Leanne McGregor was born December 26, 1946 to parents Gertrude and Thomas McGregor in Minot. She attended area schools, and later graduated from Minot High School in 1964.

After graduating, she worked various part time jobs while attending college at the University of North Dakota. After college, she opened Minot Cab Company, and operated the business until retirement in 2009.

In her later years, Verna enjoyed going fishing with her friends, as well as playing bingo and slots. Although she mostly kept to herself, she was a very good friend to many. Verna will be remembered most for her tender heart and spicy personality.

Verna was preceded in death by: her parents, Thomas and Gertrude, and brother Tommy McGregor.

Verna is survived by: her children, Russell Edington of Minot and Cary Leigh; grandchildren, Hannah Edington of Portland, OR, and Delynn Edington of Minot; sister, Carol White of Ashville, NC and numerous cousins.

A booksigning will be held at Thomas Family Funeral Home in Minot from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 2, 2024.
