Tilmer Arnold Jacobson, 87, Kenmare, and former longtime Bowbells area farmer, died Monday, November 30, 2009 in a Kenmare Hospital, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's.

Tilmer was born August 22, 1922 on the family farm near Bowbells, North Dakota, the son of Tom and Anna (Westergren) Jacobson. He was raised on the family farm and educated at schools in Bowbells.

Throughout the years, he farmed the family farmstead in Burke County near Bowbells, and also did carpentry and construction work for families in the Bowbells area.

Tilmer was united in marriage to Anita Spletto on December 22, 1959 at Drake, ND. They made their home on the farm near Bowbells, where he was actively involved on local elevator boards and held offices on the Bowbells Township board in Burke County.

Tilmer enjoyed attending auctions sales in the area and was an avid collector of antiques.

He is survived by his wife of nearly fifty years, Anita; sons, Alan (Shelley) Jacobson, Bowbells, Tilmer H "Jay" Jacobson, Bowbells; grandson, Alex Jacobson.

Tilmer was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Milo and sister, Lugene Grueneberg and her husband, Bennie.

At the request of the family, there will be no services or visitation. A private interment will take place in the Spring of 2010.
