Tom Stockert, 75, Baldwin, WI, formerly of Minot, ND, died Monday, August 8, 2016 in his home in Baldwin.
Tom Stockert's life story began May 6, 1941, in Mandan, ND, born to parents, Anthony and Helen (Olson) Stockert. He was raised and educated in Underwood, graduating high school with the class of 1959. He continued his education at St. John's University in Collegeville, MN where he completed his degree in economics.
Kathleen Hayes entered Tom's life during their college days. They were united in marriage August 31, 1963, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in West St. Paul, MN. This union was blessed three children, Mark, Christopher and Kimberly.
Tom's lifelong career with Norwest Bank, now known as Wells Fargo, started in Valley City, ND. He transferred with the company to Hoyt Lakes, MN in 1974 and to Sioux Falls, SD until moving to Minot in 1976. He served as President of the Minot branch until his retirement in 2000.
Tom was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, where he was active in the Knights of Columbus and served as President of the Diocese Finance Committee. He served as President for the Lions, Rotary, and North Dakota Bankers Association. Tom also cultivated a membership in the Downtown Business and Professional Association of Minot. He served in all offices of the Minot Chamber of Commerce, United Way, and the Minot Hockey Boosters Boards throughout his professional years. In his spare time, he coached hockey during his time in Hoyt Lakes, MN, Sioux Falls SD, and Minot, ND.
Retirement led to enjoyment of sporting events, golfing, traveling and providing amazing support to Kathleen. Kathleen passed away on August 26, 2005. Following her passing, Thomas split his time between his WI lake home in Amery and Minot. In 2011, he moved to WI full time with a home in Baldwin to spend more precious time with his family. While living there he often could be found in the corner of the ice rink watching his grandchildren play and practice. He loved seeing them enjoy water and snow sports at the family cabin. Morning coffee and evening dinner also became special times with his family.
Those cherishing his memory include, children, Mark Stockert, Minneapolis, MN, Christopher (Annette) Stockert, Castle Pines, CO and Kimberly (Shawn) Rasmuson, Baldwin, WI; grandchildren, Cole Rasmuson, Trey Rasmuson and Isabella Rasmuson, Tilman Stockert and Easton Stockert; sister, Jane (Dennis) Carbrey, Snohomish, WA; sister-in-law, Carol Hayes, West St. Paul, MN and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kathleen, sister, Judy Larson, sisters-in-law, Marlene Romain and Mary Lou Hayes and brothers-in-law, Waldo Larson, Frances Hayes and Donald Romain.
Mass of Christian Burial:
Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
Vigil Service:
Monday, August 15, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
Visitation:
Monday, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
