Thomas Ralph "Thom" Mellum, 52, lifelong Minot resident died on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in his home.

Thom was born on March 12, 1961 in Minot to Markus and Mona Lou (Miller) Mellum. He was reared in Minot and graduated from Bishop Ryan High School in 1979. Thom was employed by Bechtold Excavating, Ward County as a jailer and Emergency Management Coordinator, Don Bessette Motors and CarQuest.

Thom, known as "Wildfire" by his friends, especially enjoyed softball with the McQuade Tournament being a highlight, tailgating at MSU football games, open microphones and was a closet comedian. He was always there to help and he took great pride in making people smile or laugh, and helping to establish the Minot Area Emergency Resource Council.

Thom is survived by his sister: Barb (Bryce) Leigh of Colleyville, TX and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Thom was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Steve Mellum.
