Obituary

Theodore "Ted" D. Olson, 81, Minot, died Friday, September 10, 2010 at home after a long battle with cancer.

Ted was born June 16, 1929 in Plaza, North Dakota to Alfred and Cristina (Trulson) Olson. He was reared and educated in Plaza. He assisted his family with the operation of the family farm until he entered into active duty service with the United States Army in 1951. He proudly served his country during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged in 1953. He married Dorothy Berdine on September 8, 1953.

Ted resumed his work for the Great Northern Railroad and he was promoted to engineer, in which capacity he worked for 40 years.

His hobbies included; fishing, hunting, gardening, meat smoking, cooking, and yardwork.

Ted is survived by; his wife Dorothy, children; Mark Olson, Fargo, Nancy (Brad) Shaw, Capistrano Beach, CA, Lorrie (Patrick Maloney) Olson, Capistrano Beach, CA, loving grandchildren; JB Olson, Tesa Dallman, Chad Essman, Rachael Thompson, Michael and Mason Shaw, great-grandchildren Devin and Paige Olson, Isabella and Jray Thompson, Crisite and Justice Olson, brother Leroy (Adeline) Olson, sister, Onna (Glen) Bockness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Floyd, Chester, Arthur, Delnor, Walter, sisters, Ruby, Lila, Eldoris, Norma, Elvina and grandson Ray Allen Olson.

Funeral service: Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday from 2-7 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred.
