Theodora "Tee" Kathleen Sylstad, Minot, formerly of Sawyer, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at her home.
Theodora was born August 20, 1915 in Minot, North Dakota, the daughter of Theodore and Clara (Skrukrud Finneseth. She was raised and educated at Norwich and attended Minot High School, before returning to Norwich where she graduated from Norwich High School. During her younger years, she was employed at Trinity Hospital.
Tee was united in marriage to Harry Sylstad on January 24, 1936 in Minot. They made their home on a farm four miles north of Sawyer, in New Prairie Township of Ward County, where they raised their three children and farmed until retiring in 1976. They moved into Minot in 1978. Harry died July 23, 1994.
Tee was a former member of the Norwich Lutheran Church and was active in the New Prairie Homemakers group, while they lived on the farm. Upon moving into Minot, they became members of Bethany Lutheran Church, where Tee was active with the Church Ladies, Miriam Circle group.
Throughout the years, Tee enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and baking.
Her loving family includes: children, Marvin Sylstad, Minot, Valerie Gartner, Minot; grandchildren, Darren Dirks, Kimberly Bochenski, Susan Perkins & Christopher Gartner; great-grandchildren, Kristen & Evan Perkins; Amanda, Andrew and Mallory Dirks; great-great granddaughter, Kayla Perkins; sister, Rosie Knoepfle, Minot; several nieces and nephews.
Theodora was preceded in death by her parents, husband of fifty-eight years, Harry, infant daughter, Verdell, daughter, Gloria Call, sister, Myrtle Holman and brothers, Leonard and Kenneth Finneseth.
Funeral service: Friday, February 24, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation : Thursday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family prefers memorials to the organization of the donor's choice.
