Thelma Evelyn Rickertt, 96, Minot, died Friday, May 8, 2015 in a Minot Hospital.
Thelma was born November 5, 1918 on the family farm near Roseglen, North Dakota, the daughter of John and Hildur (Kvaale) Kerzman. She was raised on the family farm and educated at country schools near Roseglen. During her younger years, she assisted with the operation of the family farm.
Thelma was united in marriage to Earl Rickertt on February 9, 1941 in Minot. They made their home in Minot, where along with raising their two daughters, she was employed as a waitress at Newberry's Department Store and at the Ward County Courthouse cafeteria. Earl died November 6, 1997. She continued to live in Minot throughout these past many years.
Thelma was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot American Legion Auxiliary, and was a former member of the Minot Elks Lodge #1089 and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed sewing and doing embroidery work. She enjoyed playing the piano and dancing, along with listening to accordion music.Thelma was very involved with her family members and especially loved spending time with each of them.
Thelma's loving family includes , daughters, Darlene (Ordean) Momerak and Judee Evensen, both of Minot; four grandchildren to include: Cheryl (Chris) Jensen, Gordon Jr. (Kim) Valgren, Stacie (Mike) Flanagan & Diane (Les) Pierson; 12 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brother, Richard Kerzman, Bismarck ; along with many nieces and nephews.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, Earl; brothers, Harold, Dennis, Harland, Robert, Glen, Clinton and Arthur; sisters, Pearl, Hildur and Viola.
Funeral service: Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m . in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot
Visitation: Tuesday from 2:00-6:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the Bethany Lutheran Church Music Fund.
