Teresa Jean Kinney , 60, Tolley, died Friday, January 1, 2016 in a Minot hospital after a short, strong battle with cancer.

Teresa was born October 10, 1955, in Minot, ND to Harry and JoAnn (Schloer) Brown. She grew up in Berthold, ND, graduating from Berthold High School in 1974.

Teresa was married to Terry Slauter in 1976. They made their home in Berthold. This union was blessed with three children. She began work in 1986 at NSP, now Excel Energy, as a meter reader until 2001. She was married to David Kinney for several years.

In need of a change, Teresa moved to Mouse River Park in May 2001. She worked at various daycare centers and a motel in Kenmare and Mohall over the years until she became a para professional in the fall of 2014, working in the Mohall School assisting children on a daily basis. She was also employed with ag statistics as a field enumerator.

Teresa served as a volunteer for the Berthold and Mohall Ambulance and enjoyed participating in trail rides and hay rides. She loved the outdoors, visits to Medora, horses and the color purple, but her pride and joy were her grandkids, treasuring every moment spent with them. She will be missed by all who shared in her life.

Teresa's family includes her children: Kelsey Slauter (Marsha Russell) of Minot, Kinley Slauter (Sarah) of Medora, ND and Karley Kinney (Mike Thayne) of Leeds, ND; grandchildren: Isiah, Alexis, Haylie and Mason Slauter, Aleah and Ava Slauter, Ashley and Timothy Thayne and Brycine Kinney; sisters: Marilyn Peisar and Darla (Keith) Steele both of Berthold, ND; brother: Gary Brown of Berthold, ND and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in St. Jerome's Catholic Church, Mohall.
A private interment will take place later in the Spring 2016.
Gathering of Family and Friends: Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
