Sylvia Ann Marie Christianson, 90, Minot and formerly of Glenburn died on Sunday in a Velva nursing home.

Sylvia was born on February 26, 1927 in Bottineau, ND to Ole and Minnie (Haakenstad) Tande. She was reared on a farm near Souris and attended school in Scandia Township prior to graduating from Minot Model High School in 1947.

Sylvia married Helmer Christianson on April 3, 1947 in Bismarck, ND. They made their home on a farm near Glenburn and in Minot, Landa and Idaho prior to settling in Glenburn. Sylvia was a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker. They moved to Minot in 1978 where she was employed in the drapery department of Voeller's Furniture for a time. Helmer died on November 2, 2004.

Sylvia was a member of Zion Lutheran Church - Minot where she was involved in the Martha Circle and was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church - Glenburn and Our Savior's Lutheran Church - rural Glenburn where she taught Sunday School. Also, she was a member of the Women of the Moose. She especially enjoyed baking, knitting, reading, traveling, and being with her grandchildren and her 12 great grandchildren.

Sylvia's loving family includes her children: Valorie (Dennis) Getzlaff of Riverdale and Pam (Bruce) Anderson of Glenburn; grandchildren: Richard (Kristen) Getzlaff, Jonna (Alex) Taylor, Kerri (Richard) Bauer and Justin (Janet) Anderson; great grandchildren: Shandra, Wayne, Gwen, Hope, Otto, Kevin, Shelby, Cheyan, Destiny, Brianna, Isabella, and William; siblings: Joyce (Glen) Christianson of Meridian Idaho and Conrad (Clarice) Tande of Landa and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband .

Public Visitation : Monday April 10 from 3:00 to 6:00 in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.

A private service will be held later with interment at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to Souris Valley Care Center, Velva or Edgewood Vista, Minot.
