Obituary

Syble Louise Schmit Spicher, 89, Minot, died on Thursday, July 25, 2013 in her home.

Syble was born on January 31, 1924 in Bismarck, ND to Gilbert and Florence (Eaton) Gustafson. As a youngster, she lived with her family in Plaza; Great Falls, MT; Minot; Spokane, WA; Los Angeles, Eagle Grove, Iowa and Des Lacs. Her family eventually moved to Minot in June, 1935 where she graduated from Minot High School in 1941.

Syble married Francis Eugene Schmit on August 19, 1946 in Minot. To this union a son named Paul was born. They made their home in Minot. Eugene died on March 3, 1966. Following Eugene's death, Syble became employed as a billing clerk at Souris River Telephone on February 15, 1967. She retired from SRT on January 31, 1986. She had been a resident of Woodridge Mobile Home Park for many years

Syble enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed playing bridge.

Syble is survived by her sister: Inez Gustafson, Richfield, MN; her very, very close friend of 40 years Katie Isaacson of Fergus Falls, MN; close family friends: Joe, Jr. and Ruthmarie Lawson and their children Angela and Ashley and Scott and Karla Sivertson and their children Kevin and Kalee all of Minot and her bridge playing friends.

Syble was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Francis Schmit; son, Paul Schmit.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.

Memorials are preferred to Trinity Hospice.
