Steve Kermit Bernsdorf, 53, 404 32nd SW, Minot, and formerly of Sawyer, died Wednesday, October 25, 2006, in a Stanley nursing home.

Steve Kermit Bernsdorf was born June 4, 1953, at St. Aloisius Hospital, Harvey, ND.

He resided at Sawyer, ND, August, 1953 through May 1998, with his parents, moving into Minot with them in June 1998. He has resided at the Mountrail Bethel Home, Stanley, ND for the last two years.

He was confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sawyer, and attended church there until he transferred his membership to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Minot. He will be missed by all who shared in his life.

At the age of 13, Steve was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. He attended Sawyer School graduating in May 1971, and then enrolled at Minot State University and Minot Business College.

He was a bookkeeper at Rice Oil and Farstad Oil, Minot, ND, retiring in October 1989.

He is survived by: Parents: Darrell and Clarice Bernsdorf, Minot, Sister: Jill (Robert) Nohr, Stanley; Nephew and his family: Todd, Selina, Remington, and Colt Nohr, Stanley; Niece and her family: Misty, Jay, Liberty, and Logan Zuchara, Stanley; and god-daughters and nieces, Savannah Stephanie Nohr, enrolled at Minot State University and McKenzie Clare Nohr enrolled at Minot State University-Bottineau; Grandmother: Elsie Jacobson and Granny Cella, Marcella Johnson, both of Minot, ND; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Florence Bernsdorf, and grandfather, Kermit Jacobson.

Celebration of Life Service: Saturday October 28, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Minot, ND, with Reverend Paul Krueger, officiating.
Visitation: There will be no reviewal, however, friends and family may sign a memorial register book on Friday, October 27, 2006, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home of Minot.
