Stephen Hoover, 58, of the San Francisco Bay area of California, died Monday September 7, 2009 in a San Francisco Hospital.

Stephen was born June 22, 1951 in Minot, ND to Melvin and Yvonne Hoover. He graduated from Minot High School in 1970 and attended Minot State University. From 1972 until 1975, Stephen served in the US Navy on the USS Oriskany CVA 43. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. After his honorable discharge, Stephen attended West Valley Center for Business Administration in Northridge, CA. In 1979 he began employment with Pacific Bell of San Francisco, CA. In 1992, he attended the Academy of Travel and attained agent status, working for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines in San Francisco until his retirement due to a medical disability.

Stephen's loving family includes: parents; Mel and Yvonne Hoover, Minot, ND; brothers and sisters; Engene (Becky) Hoover, Platte City, MI, Ford Hoover, Davis, CA, Melanie (Carl) Cathey, Dallas, TX; Carrie (Don) Folkert, Minot, ND; Spencer Hoover, Minot, ND; DeNee (Mark) Kurpiel, Carrollton, TX; 5 nieces and 5 nephews as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.

Private graveside service : Friday, September 25, 2009 in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Organ Fund.
