Stanley Telford Dolan
,
79, Minot and formerly of Ray and Williston, died Tuesday May 3, 2011 in a Minot Hospital.
Stanley was born April 24, 1932 at rural Crosby, North Dakota, the son of Aslak and Josie (Throntveit) Dolan. He was raised and educated in the Crosby area and graduated from Crosby High School in 1950. He continued his education at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and later graduated from the Luther Theological Seminary at St. Paul, MN.
Stan was united in marriage to Barbara E. Langhein on June 14, 1958 at St. Alban's, New York, where they met while he was doing his first internship following graduation from the seminary. They returned to North Dakota, where Stan received a call from his first church to serve the Tuttle-Robinson Parish in 1958. They lived there until 1963, when they moved to Stanton, ND, where he was called to serve the Lutheran Church until 1970.
Stan was then called to Ray, ND, where he faithfully served the congregation from 1970-1987. From there, he was called to serve the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston, as Chaplain from 1987-1997. They moved to Minot in 1997, where for ten years, he served Christ Lutheran Church as the Church's Visitation Pastor. He retired from the ministry in 2007.
Stan was most recently a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. He enjoyed reading and woodworking, along with helping to build several Habitat for Humanity Homes and spending time with his grandchildren.
His loving family includes
: Wife of fifty-two years, Barbara; Children, Stuart (Michelle) Dolan, Ray, Jeanette Dolan, Berthold, and Carla Moorhead of Minot; Grandchildren, Cassandra Moorhead, Minneapolis, MN, Alexandra Moorhead, Minot, and Paige and Maari Dolan, both of Ray; Great-granddaughter, Emma Moorhead, Minot; Brothers, Oscar (Florence) Dolan, Great Falls, MT, Erling (Marlys) Dolan, Crosby, ND; Sister, Alice Tiegen, Long Prairie, MN, and Aunt, Helen Loraas, Tacoma, WA.
Stan was preceded in death by his Parents, a Brother, Joseph Dolan and Sister, Marie Ann Nordhagen.
Funeral service
: Monday, May 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.
Graveside service:
Monday at 2:45 p.m. inSunset Rest Cemetery, Ray, ND.
Visitation:
Sunday, May 8th from Noon - 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Upper Missouri Ministries Bible Camp at Epping, ND.
