Stacia Doris Kankovsky, 92, 2721 75th St. NW, Minot, died Friday, September 22, 2006, in her home.

Stacia was born on June 26, 1914, in Kief, ND, the daughter of Karp and Anna (Waush) Bonenko. She was raised on the family farm and educated in country schools. Stacia was united in marriage to John Kankovsky on November 2, 1935, in Towner, ND. They made their home in Max for a short time, before moving to Minot in 1946. John died on January 22, 2004.

Stacia enjoyed working in her garden, canning vegetables, and was a very loving person; who was always helpful, and will deeply be missed.

She is survived by her sons, Marvin and Robert both of Minot; daughter, Shirley (James) Phillips of Shreveport, LA; Grandchildren, David and Suzie Phillips; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and four brothers.

Funeral Service : Thursday, September 28, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home.
Interment : Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, North Dakota
Visitation : Wednesday, September 28, 2006, from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
